Philippines Call Centers
The outsourcing industry in the Philippines is the largest in the world. It is the job of choice for many young people, with more than 1 million Filipinos working at call centers and in related outsourcing businesses, mostly serving American companies.
The Philippine call center industry has grown so fast that it has overtaken India as the call-center capital of the world. India still leads the information technology outsourcing realm, but an army of Filipino college graduates dominate most every other kind of task known as business process outsourcing, or BPO.
Less expensive operational and labor costs, and a constant stream of college-educated graduates entering the already mostly young workforce make the Philippines a great location for call centers. Additionally, Filipinos generally show proficiency in American-style English as well as slang, and have a strong familiarity with U.S. culture.
